Dungeon Runners – Oh Oh…What Have I Done?

This afternoon I was taking a break from all the things on my “Honey-Do” list, and so I took some time and checked out my Blogroll blogs to see what was up with all those people. As usual, it was all entertaining and informative information.

Before I get to my “real” topic, though, I wanted to thank Keen for his great post on Why Do Great Games Die? that he wrote yesterday. Once in a while there are articles posted that a person really “gets” or “connects with”, and this one was one of those times. Great thoughts, Keen. Keep up the great blog. It is quickly becoming one of my favourite daily reads.

Now on to the meat…ok well tofu turkey…as I was reading earlier, I stumbled on something that may be the death of me! I was reading Kanthalos’ latest post about a free MMORPG called Mythos that seems to be currently in beta. That game looked interesting, but I am not in the beta, so that’s not what I’m posting about…Bildo’s comment on this post, though mentioned another freebie called Dungeon Runners that I’d never heard of (he does mention that Mythos seems to be a better game) but I’ll have to wait until it’s released.

The Dungeon Runners Logo

So I figured, since it’s free (there is a member option for a very affordable $US 4.99/ month) Kyle and I would make a couple accounts and try it out. Well, all I’ll say for now is it was two hours later when Cordanim the Fighter and Coron the Mage surfaced for air. The game is a lot of fun (although I will say that the UI is very similar to World of Warcraft) and looks to have a lot of depth. It may be a bit geared to a younger crowd, but I love the fact I can group up with my sons and they love playing with dad, so I think we’ll have a blast from time to time in Dungeon Runners. I will post some screenshots over the next couple of days as we have time to get online.

I highly recommend checking it out though!

Cord you’re back! I had no idea. :) Great to see you blogging again and I hope you’re feeling better.

I’m honored that you enjoyed my article. Every so often I come up with something good. :P I’ve just spent the past 30 minutes catching up on your blog and I am definitely glad to see you’re here and writing again!

Now as for this Dungeon Runners game, it looks really interesting. I’ve been looking for something that won’t require a long commitment but still provide the much needed entertainment and this just might be it. I have to do something until Warhammer Online and Pirates come out. ;)

Kanth teases with a contest… I’ve got 5 keys just itching to be given away. I’ll make a post over at my blog. The 1st 5 people who want keys to Mythos need only to ask for them with a comment.

Shame on you, Kanth… making them work for it. :p
